I travel weekly and take crochet projects on my travels to keep myself occupied. I live in Atlanta and travel through that airport on a weekly basis and many other airports around the country. I take my craft scissors with me for these projects, as I researched on TSAs website that scissor blades less than 4 inches are allowed. I measured my scissors (the metal blade is about 3.75 inches and I was good. Always when I go through security, my scissors are pulled out and measured and promptly returned because they meet the rules. Well not in Philadelphia. Apparently there the rule is less than 4 inches from the screw holding the blades together, even though this screw is inbedded in the plastic portion of the scissor handle. After about 30 minutes of arguing and demanding Supervisor Keith provide a copy of the rule that states how scissors should be measured, I had to leave my scissors behind as I was going to miss my plane. Now after numerous complaints to TSA, they keep telling me to fill out an SR95 form for Damage, Injury or Death. That doesn't quite fit my needs! I keep asking for the rule that states scissor blades should be measured to the screw because I can't find anything on the website and they keep telling me to fill out the form? I just want my scissors back! Anyone have any advice or a number to talk to someone at TSA?
